Vocaloid Ranking Specials
From Vocaloidism Wiki
A spin-off of the Weekly Vocaloid Ranking, these specials are an all-time ranking of Vocaloid songs. Each special is multiple parts whose core feature is a Top 100 countdown, but has other added countdowns and features.

[edit] Eligibility and Scoring
In order to qualify for the specials, the video must qualify for any of the previous Weekly Vocaloid Rankings and/or Vocaloid Ranking Specials that are within the given time period. The scoring for the specials is slightly different than the regular version.
- View + Comment * modifier + MyList * 10
- Modifier: (View + MyList) / (View + Comment + MyList)
The example given during each program is a video that receives 10,000 hits, 5,000 comments, and 500 My List adds. The comment multiplier is found by adding hits and My Lists (in this case 10,500) and dividing that sum by the total amount of metrics (15,500) which ends up being 0.67. This means the videos final score is 10,000+(5,000*0.67)+(500*10)=18,350 points.
Starting with SP3, the above scores were reduced by the video's score from the previous special. This way, only scores from the period between the two specials affect into the major countdown.
The top 100 gets the 20 seconds of airtime with the top 10 getting more (typically a full verse). As sort of a gag, the lowest-scoring video receives 20 seconds at the very end of the last part of the special.
[edit] 2007 Yearly Vocaloid Ranking Special
- Eligibility window: 4AM 3/06/07-12AM 12/24/07
The 2007 three part special was uploaded starting December 29th and covered the last 9 months of 2007. Out of 135 ranked videos, the winner was "Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru" with 4,050,370 points, including over 2.6 million views. The runner-up, Miku's famous version of "Ievan Polkka", had a little more than 1.85 million points.
[edit] Yearly Vocaloid Ranking SP2
- Eligibility window: anytime before 5AM 9/01/08
The 2nd five part special was in September 15-22, 2008, counting down and celebrating a year's worth of videos since the initial release of the Character Vocal Series. Out of 1,418 videos, "Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru" was #1 once again, with 7,282,587 points and over 5 million views. "Hikyou Sentai Urotanda" came in second with over 4 million points.
Because of the anniversary of Miku's release, there were some special segments added to the countdown. Most notably was a "sit-down" interview with the creators of VocaListener. There was also a special Top 5 countdown of MikuMikuDance videos.
Other features included the Kiriban Channel and Otona no Vocaran features. Kiriban Channel gave screen time to every video whose rank ended in 00 or was the 777th video. Otona no Vocaran (literally "Adult Vocaloid Ranking) was a countdown of videos with explicit content. The videos shown were pixelated and their audio distorted and muffled. At the top, there was a warning stating that the video had adult content.
[edit] Vocaloid Ranking SP3: Sakura no kisetsu ni, tsuta e taiko no omoi
- Eligibility window: anytime before 5AM 3/09/09
As opposed to the two before, this Top 100 countdown with a sakuramatsuri theme focused on the best songs from the 8-month span since the 2nd Special. To do so, any video that appeared before SP2 had their score from that special deducted from their total to make up their final point total. This allowed newer songs to earn airtime during the special, especially in the top 3. iroha's "Meltdown," only about 10 weeks old, scored the highest of the 2,456 eligible songs with 2,035,038 points, including 1.2 million views. "Double Lariat," only 32 days old, came in 2nd with nearly 1.6 million points. The veteran "Melt" was third with 1.54 million, marking the first time that the Top 3 featured 3 different lead singers. "Miku Miku ni shite ageru" ended up being a distant 6th.
In addition to maintaining the Kiriban Channel and Otona no Vocoran, a new feature was the "...ga sugoi" lists, in which various contributors to the Vocaloid community are asked to give their Best 3 (ranking is optional).
[edit] Vocaloid Ranking SP4: Jikuu Yuusha wa Taihen Manaji o (ry
- Eligibility window: anytime before 5AM 8/31/09
This special ranked the Top 100 songs from Weeks 76-100, calculated in a similar manner to SP3. doriko's "Romeo & Cinderella" scored the highest of the 3,504 eligible songs with over 2 million points. "Double Lariat" came in second, nearly half a million points behind. Four of the top seven songs premiered after SP3 and either Miku or Luka had vocals in the Top 13. (Luka was in "Double Lariat", #3 "magnet", and #7 "Just Be Friends".) Because of it's removal from Nico Nico Douga, "Roshin Yuukai" was unranked.
New features included Koremari being Naho's voice for the first time in a special, and two interviews with an Asahi Shimbun representative, referred to as asaP.
